Knowledge by Networking: Digitising Culture in Germany and Europe
This international conference in Berlin will explore the current state of digitisation in the worlds of culture and scholarship. The conference will focus on diverse initiatives in the field of digitisation across Europe, addressing a series of underlying questions. The event will encourage cooperation among the different cultural organisations for the creation of a wider European digital network. A special attention will be given to the Michael project (funded under the eTEN programme) which is extending its service beyond France, Italy and UK to eleven additional Member States.

Europe's Digital Library experts set to focus on copyright today
The EU's High Level Expert Group on Digital Libraries - which includes, inter alia, stakeholders from the British Library, the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, the Federation of European Publishers and Google - will present this afternoon an advisory report on copyright issues to the European Commission. In addition, the group will discuss today how to ensure more open access to scientific research and how to improve public-private cooperation. The work of the High Level Group is part of the European Commission's efforts to make Europe's rich cultural and scientific heritage available online. For this purpose, the group advises the Commission on issues regarding digitisation, online accessibility and digital preservation of cultural material.

E-books and E-content 2007
This event will bring together participants from all sectors and provide presentations from the library, publishing and systems communities to look at current practices in e-book delivery and how they might develop in the near future. Expert speakers will provide assessments of market trends and technologies and researchers will look at current evaluative studies on the take up of, and user reaction to, e-books and e-content generally.
